A special presentation is set for 12:00 noon, Wednesday, April 24 to discuss the topic of keeping electricity costs down, with a focus on the local cooperative, Sangre de Cristo Electric Association. Presented by the group known as Ark Valley Energy Futures, it features speaker Ken Regelson, the founder of EnergyShouldBe.org.

Organizers say that this talk is for anyone who is interested in what can be done to keep electricity costs down and what Sangre de Cristo Electric Association (SDCEA) might be able to do.

Topics include background on SDCEA, reliability with high levels of renewables, what makes up electricity costs, cost-effective ways to lower energy bills “that maximize reducing everyone’s costs, and actions that SDCEA are taking  and can take.” The presentation promises plenty of time to ask questions.

Regelson has a master’s degree in electrical engineering along with 24 years of experience in modeling, analysis, and practice of a high renewables grid. Event organizers say that he speaks on energy “in clear and engaging ways to audiences of all experience levels, from energy nerds to regular folks”. He spent five years as a policy analyst at the state capitol and Public Utilities Commission representing Colorado’s solar installers.

Registration is free but required. To register and request the link for the talk, email edu@arkvalleyenergyfuture.org and put the words “Wednesday talk” in the subject line.
