Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center (HRRMC) Foundation is offering two scholarships of $2,500 each for current college students planning to pursue a career in healthcare. The scholarships are available to any college student who lives or has lived within the Salida Hospital District (all of Chaffee, western Fremont, and northern Saguache Counties).

To be eligible, applicants must currently be attending college and continuing in the fall of 2024, have a minimum college grade point average (GPA) of 3.2, and already have earned at least 24 college credit hours. They may not be related to an HRRMC Foundation board member.

The application requires the completed one-page application form, a one-page narrative outlining why the applicant wants to receive the award, a one-page narrative covering the applicant’s community service, two letters of reference (one professional, one personal), and a copy of the applicant’s current college or program transcript through the spring semester.

This HRRMC Foundation scholarship was renamed in honor of Charles J Forster, who was an HRRMC Board Member from 1996 to 2016 and on the HRRMC Foundation Board from 1998 to 2014. As chairman of the Foundation Board, Forster ensured multiple campaigns to raise money for HRRMC facilities.
