The Chaffee County Community Foundation (CCCF) rose to the occasion for Colorado Gives Day, collecting a total of nearly $67,000 on Tuesday, December 10. That success appears due to increased visibility and awareness building over the past year.

“We more than doubled the number of organizations participating, grew the number of donations by 54 [percent] and increased the dollars Chaffee nonprofits are receiving from this platform by 89 [percent],said the organization’s celebration announcement. Part of the success was the creation by CCCF of the ChaffeeGIVES campaign. The page developed as a championing marketing effort to elevate the profile of local nonprofits, encourage organizations to participate, and ensure donors could easily find Chaffee nonprofits through the simplified www.chaffeegives.org landing page.

As one of 13 champions statewide, CCCF leadership said it  worked hard to serve as the Regional Champion for Chaffee County to increase participation from Chaffee nonprofits on the CO Gives platform. CCCF Executive Director Joseph Teipel says “This is what makes Chaffee County such a special place – we believe in investing in community and our nonprofit organizations. We can all be philanthropists, and this was obvious on CO Gives Day.”

In that regional champion role, CCCF says it helped nonprofits in Chaffee County elevate their profiles to residents and community members and ultimately, increased the amount of dollars raised historically.

A grand total of 435 donations were made on CO Gives in Chaffee County compared with only 283 donations made in 2018. Chaffee Gives raised $66,897 in 2019, while in 2018, $35,402 dollars were raised. And since last year 15 additional nonprofits benefited during the CO Gives event, bringing the Chaffee Gives participating nonprofits to 26, a 136 percent increase from 2018.

Adding to the success of CO Gives Day, a sold-out evening generously hosted by the Eddyline Restaurant at South Main in Buena Vista celebrated giving in a community setting. Eddyline showcased their commitment to community, offered a special 3-course menu, made iPads available for attendees to donate in-house, and donated $1,000 to CCCF’s incentive fund. This donation will join with others and be distributed to all ChaffeeGIVES participating nonprofits, based on how much they raised on CO Gives Day.

The Chaffee Gives and CO Gives event is far from over. There are less than two weeks remaining to donate to these organizations for the 2019 year. Chaffee residents can still donate to their favorite organizations at www.chaffeegives.org! The platform is up year-round and offers lower credit card processing fees for receiving nonprofits than other platforms. Those still looking to donate can visit the CCCF website or by clicking here.
