The Salida Department of Public Works (Salida DPW) is reminding residents that roadway capital improvement projects will begin in the city on Monday, Aug. 5.

The projects will consist of asphalt maintenance on numerous streets. These include Holman Avenue, Airport Road, New Street, Scott Street, Chilcott Street, Wood Avenue (east of Oak street) and 5th Street.

According to Salida DPW’s press release, “these types of maintenance activities are typically completed on roads with minor to moderate distress, but not requiring complete reconstruction.”

Road closures will be limited during the projects. Holman Avenue will have temporary closures on Tuesday, Aug. 6 and Wednesday, Aug. 7.

Holman Avenue is the only street Salida DPW has set closure times for and it is requesting the community’s patience during the construction.

Per Salida DPW, “Temporary closures may occur during this time, so it is advised that you plan an alternative route when work is occurring.

Work is expected to conclude by Sept. 11, 2019.

Those with questions may contact Salida DPW by calling 719-539-6257.
