In the Nov. 3 General Election, Colorado voted against Proposition 115 which would have banned late term abortion. Colorado will continue to not limit the gestational age at which an abortion can be performed leaving this decision to the woman and her doctor.

Chaffee County followed the state-wide trend on the ballot question, in a majority vote that rejected government interference on this highly personal, highly emotional decision.

This does not mean that abortions can be performed up until birth, as that is scientifically impossible. Late term abortions are typically performed in extreme cases when the mother or child’s life is at stake specifically in cases of devastating fetal diagnosis.
