The last Mend-It Monday of the year is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 18. The event is located in the basement of the United Methodist Church (228 East Fourth Street, Salida). Attendees should enter from the parking lot.

Those without sewing skills (or who struggle mending items themselves) can brighten up their wardrobe by bringing in garments with torn hems, missing buttons, or ripped seams. A troupe of volunteer sewists, armed with sewing machines, needles, thread, and the proper skills provide this community service will repair the clothing and extend its life to prevent it from ending up in a landfill.

The menders ask that the clothing be freshly laundered. Please note that the volunteers cannot fix zippers or leather.

This is not an alteration service. If looking for alterations rather than mending, the group can provide referrals to locals who do that work for a living.
