This morning Gina Lucrezi formally announced her candidacy for Chaffee County Commissioner District 1. Lucrezi is currently serving as Mayor Pro Tem for the Town of Buena Vista. Aware that she and candidate Dave Armstrong had met candidacy qualifications, Ark Valley Voice published an initial story about their run on January 24.

“I’m so excited to run for County Commissioner as I’m passionate about public service and dedicated to creating a successful future for Chaffee County,” said Lucrezi. “I don’t shy away from hard work, and I embrace opportunities to engage with the public and all stakeholders. My experience is filled with valuable skill sets needed for the position, and my heart holds all the desire to provide my fellow community members a better quality of life.”

Lucrezi is a successful business owner and Vice-President of Chaffee County Search & Rescue North. She has been endorsed by current District 1 Commissioner and 2023 Chair of the Chaffee Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) Keith Baker, who commented: “Gina will thrive as a County Commissioner and build upon the successes of the recent past to lead Chaffee County to a promising future.”

“I am enthusiastically endorsing Gina Lucrezi for Chaffee County Commissioner in this November’s general election. Gina is a dedicated individual whose commitment to hard work, leadership, and community well-being is highly inspiring,” he continued … “[her] love and appreciation for public service are evident, and her professional background is rooted in growing equitable opportunities and building community resources for public benefit. [She] is uniquely qualified to serve as your next Chaffee County District 1 commissioner.”

Lucrezi says that her top priorities as Chaffee County Commissioner would be the preservation of natural resources, water, wildlife, rural landscapes, public and working lands, affordable housing for the county’s workforce, and economic growth and stability. She explains her leadership values as focused on “community, sustainability, and collaboration”.

“I’m here to work for you. I’ll listen and learn from your thoughts, needs, and concerns,” she has declared, adding, “We get further when we work together.”

Ark Valley Voice will be doing more formal interviews with all BoCC candidates over the coming weeks. It has set its county-level candidate forum for September 25, 2024, with details to be determined.

Lucrezi’s supporters have organized a gathering to kick off her campaign; a meet and greet event at The Slammer, located at 412 E. Main Street in Buena Vista at 6:00 p.m. February 22. It’s an opportunity for community members to meet Lucrezi, and learn more about her platform.
