Can we really be nearing the end of summer?  It appears that September is nearly upon us, and the Salida’s Arts and Culture Community is preparing to send it out with a flourish.

The final “First Friday” event of the season is set for 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 1 in the Downtown Creative District. Salida galleries and creative businesses will be staying open late.

The Salida Creative District was the state’s first designated Creative District. During the Final First Friday of the season, stroll Salida’s Creative District to appreciate art in many mediums; from painting to sculpture, ceramics, photography, plein air, jewelry, fiber arts, and more.

There are 20-plus artist-owned and operated galleries and creative businesses in downtown Salida, where you can interact with the artist, ask questions, watch a demo, and build your unique collection.

As the final First Friday of the season, festivities will spill out onto F Street! As you stroll from gallery to gallery, enjoy live music, street performances, and children’s activities featuring Salida Circus, Salida’s River Tribe Drum & Dance Troupe, portraits by Naters Art, and crafts and face painting in front of Kaleidoscope Toys. Visitors can also pick up a blank palette card at the First Friday table.

Those aged 18+ can pick up a card, and receive a stamp at each gallery they visit. Return a completed card for an art mini, 18+, while supplies last. For more information about Salida First Fridays, contact community engagement coordinator tina.gramann@cityofsalida.com.
