Chaffee County moved to Level Yellow on the COVID-19 State dial on February 6 which will allow the Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center to increase their swimmer capacity. The Center plans to make more spaces available to the community.

These changes include the ability to accommodate 10 people in the leisure pool and 12 swimmers in the lap lanes. Staff will also open the Aquatic Fitness Classes to 10 participants.

On February 8, the Center unveiled its new locker rooms for the public to use. Lockers will be available to rent but they will be limited to a first-come, first-serve basis. When possible, swimmers are encouraged to come ready to swim, to maximize the availability of the locker room.

“Since we dropped into the yellow, we felt comfortable enough to open them,” said Parks and Recreation Director Diesel Post.

Even though the capacity is being increased at the Aquatic Center, staff will still maintain a high standard of sanitization and will clean the facility, along with the locker rooms, every hour and a half. Post reiterates that the community’s health and safety are of the utmost importance to the Center.
