Salida Chamber Annual Community Awards Set For Feb 9

“Together moving Mountains” theme embraces the 2023 Annual Community Awards

From 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Feb. 9, the Salida Chamber of Commerce hosts their highly-anticipated community awards event, sponsored by Aristata Communications.

“The ‘Together Moving Mountains’ theme appeared to be a natural to me,” said Chamber Executive Director Lori Roberts. “It takes collaboration to spark innovation, together with keeping our long-term goals healthy and realistic.”

Five awards will be given out at the event:

Cornerstone Award
From the Heart Award
Citizen of the Year Award
Entrepreneur Year Award
Business of the Year Award

Those new to the annual tradition will learn that the Cornerstone Award is given in recognition of long-term community support and dedication. In tribute to Salida being the “Heart of the Rockies”, the From the Heart Award recognizes a citizen’s generosity of spirt and volunteerism, values held dear in this community.

Given the state of our democratic institutions these days, the Citizen of The Year Award has taken on even more importance. The 2023 awards were created by Brice Turnbull Studios.

Past awardees have said that receiving one of the three top awards is a life-affirming milestone for them.

“It’s a different animal to live and work in a rural mountain community. The rewards that come with change may be painful at times, but outweigh the alternative of professing ignorance. Together… we can move mountains,” concluded Roberts.

Event Details

According to the Salida Chamber, the evening features “heavy hors d’oeuvres by Michelle Gapp of Kalamata Pit catering, a cash bar, and a silent auction.” Acceptance speeches will follow.

Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at the Salida Chamber of Commerce – 406 West Hwy. 50. All forms of payment are accepted.
