The Alliance will be hosting a free “How to Be an Everyday Hero” training at 4:30 p.m. on October 19 at the Buena Vista public library. The hour-long training includes time for discussion.

Those interested in attending can RSVP at Info@AllianceChaffee.Org or using The Alliance’s Facebook event.

“We know people who are experiencing abuse aren’t coming straight to us – they’re turning to trusted friends, family members, doctors, neighbors, and community leaders,” said The Alliance in their event posting. “We want to give you the tools to properly support someone who may disclose abuse to you.”

Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is a time of year when everyone is encouraged to unite in the work to empower individuals beyond domestic violence. The Alliance invites advocates, loved ones, supporters, and community leaders to join together to directly listen to and uplift survivors.

Through the month of October, The Alliance works to raise collective awareness about how to properly support survivors.

Below is the short video, Everyday Heroes, that provides four steps on how to support a friend or loved one who may disclose abuse. The Alliance encourages the public to share the video to help make the community a safer place.
