The city of Salida has yet to issue an official press release regarding the candidates who have qualified to run in the November 7 consolidated election. The positions for three city council seats, city mayor, and city treasurer will be up for election. Those who have pulled petitions to qualify are providing an early view of the race.

As expected, incumbent Mayor Dan Shore is running for re-election to a second term. He is currently running unopposed. One potential candidate has until 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5 to cure an insufficient petition.

Ward 1’s current Council Member Jane Templeton has decided not to seek a second term. Suzanne Fontana is running unopposed for that Ward 1 seat.

In Ward 2, where current Council Member Mike Pollack is not seeking reelection, there are two candidates who have qualified: Aaron Stephens and Adriane Kuhn.

Ward 3 will see incumbent Council Member Alisa Pappenfort running for re-election. Two rival candidates pulled petitions for the role: Jackie Berndt appears to have qualified as a candidate. A potential candidate (Adam Martinez) has until 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5 to cure an insufficient petition.

Current City Treasurer Merrell Bergin is not seeking a second term. Ben Gilling and Wayles Martin have both completed petitions to run for city treasurer.

At 4:00 p.m. on Sept. 5, Salida City Clerk Erin Kelly will hold an official drawing by lot to determine the order of candidates listed on the ballot. The drawing will be held in City Council chambers at 448 East First Street, Room 190.
