The Buena Vista High School (BVHS) wrestling team brought home the league championship trophy from the Tri-Peaks League Championship and is heading on to regionals at Cedaredge this weekend.

A summary of Buena Vista’s results from the Tri-Peaks League are available online.

“This is getting to be an exciting time for the wrestling team,” commented team coach Jared Todd when asked about the team and this season.

The Buena Vista wrestling team is headed to regionals this week to fight for their right to compete in Denver at the state championships.

“We are looking to defend our back-back-back regional titles and looking to finish in the top ten of state for the fifth consecutive year.  We have had numerous bright spots throughout the year and finished in the top quarter of every tourney regardless of size,” explained Todd.

“The wrestling team has had a great year so far but now the fun part of the season starts! It’s win or go home time, and we have plans to not stay home for the next few weeks,” commented athletic director Adam Bright. “Multiple wins and good showings in tournaments across the state this year has set the stage for the Demons to make a run here to end the season and show our Demons are a top 5 wrestling program in the state.”

Friday, February 9 and Saturday, February 10 the boys varsity wrestling team will head to regionals at Cedaredge. If locals want to view results as they occur at the tournament this weekend, they should be accessible through TrackWrestling.com.
