Two candidates originally announced for District Attorney for the 11th Judicial District, comprising Fremont, Chaffee, Custer, and Park Counties. Fremont County native and Cañon City-based attorney Jeff Lindsey announced his intention to run for the seat in November, 2023. Joanne Morando of Salida, who currently serves as the supervising Deputy District Attorney for Chaffee County, first announced as a Republican candidate, but has dropped out of the race.

Linda Stanley, the current elected District Attorney, will finish out her first term in office in 2024. She has announced that she is not going to seek a second term.

Lindsey has experience as a prosecutor in every county in the jurisdiction. He notes that he is a local who attended Florence High School. He began working in Chaffee and Park District Attorney’s Offices from 1997-2000, while living in Salida and commuting to Fairplay weekly.

Then he worked in the Pueblo DA’s office, and from 2004-2021, Lindsey was a prosecutor for the Fourth Judicial District in El Paso and Teller Counties.

In 2017, Lindsey was recognized as the statewide Faculty of the Year by the Colorado District Attorney’s Council.

In 2021, he worked at the District Attorney’s Office in the 11th Judicial District, and then accepted a new opportunity to work in the 10th Judicial District in Pueblo. There he serves as Chief Trial Deputy and third in command for DA Jeff Chostner’s office.

Lindsey is affiliated with the Republican Party and has already received the promise of endorsement from the Fremont County Sheriff Allen Cooper.

“I am uniquely qualified to be the District Attorney in the 11th Judicial District,” asserts Lindsey. ” I have the experience, training, leadership, and diligence to effectively serve the communities, law enforcement, and victims.  The citizens of the 11th Judicial District have been underserved by the current District Attorney, who demonstrates a lack of accountability and experience. It is time for a change for the better.”

Morando, a trial lawyer and Republican, was a prosecutor for the 8th and 21st Judicial Districts of Colorado, prior to serving the 11th Judicial District. She has prosecuted all types of crimes, including murder, sexual assault, drug distribution, and weapons crimes. No explanation was given for her decision to withdraw.

Lindsey says he welcomes communication and input from the citizens of this District by call and text at 719-243-5305, and email at electlindseyda11th@gmail.com.
