Agenda includes presentation on drones and report from ElevateHER

The agenda for the 7 p.m. July 10 meeting of the Buena Vista Board of Trustees, scheduled for the Buena Vista Community Center, includes two major presentations.

Dennis Heap, chair of the Chaffee County Unmanned Aerial Systems Advisory Board and an airport administration and operations consultant, will discuss the role of drones in the county and existing regulations. Heap said Chaffee County is increasingly identified as the high altitude testing area for commercial unmanned aerial systems, commonly called drones.

The second presentation is a mid-year report from ElevateHER, a nonprofit organization based in Chaffee County and dedicated to empowering young women through outdoor adventures.

In addition to board and staff reports, the board will consider a resolution for an amendment adjusting the fee schedule for the Central Colorado Regional Airport.

If adopted, a second resolution would solidify an agreement between the town of Buena Vista and the Colorado Mountain Club for the design and construction of trails on U.S. Bureau of Land Management land near Buena Vista.

Following formal business, the board of trustees will adjourn to executive session to receive legal advice concerning water rights legal questions.
