The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has announced a maintenance alert map of crack sealing operations on U.S. 291, north of Salida, from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. April 29 through May 2. Because of the  CDOT highway maintenance, motorists can expect brief delays April 29 through May 2 north of Salida.

The crack sealing operations will commence along a nine-mile segment of Colorado U.S. 291 between Salida and the junction of U.S. 285. Motorists traveling U.S. 291, north of Salida, from Mile Points 1 to 9, will encounter up to 15- minute delays and one-lane alternating traffic through Thursday afternoon, May 2.

CDOT crews are assuring the public that they will work as swiftly as possible to complete the surface treatment however operations are weather-dependent.

Traffic Impacts:

  • Daytime work hours range from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
  • Motorists should plan for up to 15-minute delays and should allow for extra travel time
  • Repair work will be reduced to two-mile segments
  • Expect one-lane alternating traffic guided by signs and flagging personnel
  • A speed reduction to 40 mph will be enforced through the work zones
