On February 8 the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by detectives with the Salida Police Department in regards to an adult female who had taken explicit pictures of children while she was babysitting these kids.
The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Salida Police Department and interviewed the adult female. During this interview, it was learned that this female had babysat two young children and while doing so she took explicit photos of both and shared them with an unknown person online.
The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office obtained an arrest warrant for this female and arrested her later that same evening. The suspect, Brittany Katelyn Smith, age 25, from Salida was transported to the Chaffee County Detention Facility and is being charged with two counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child. A Class 3 Felony.
Smith was being held on a No Bond Hold; however she will be arraigned today, February 9.
