The Thursdays at 6 Concert Series has returned to Salida for the summer season. The musical event is a free and family-friendly way for residents to enjoy a vibrant mix of artists and the evening downtown atmosphere. Located in Riverside Park at 100 E. Sackett in Salida, concertgoers have easy access to the venue and plenty of room to spread their blankets and camp chairs.

All free concerts begin at 6 p.m. and go to 8 p.m., running weekly through August first with the exception of June 13. There will not be a performance on June 13 due to FibARK activities throughout downtown Salida.

This Thursday, June 6 the Thursdays at 6 Concert Series features the band Sirsy. They are a rock and soul duo headed by powerful lead vocals and skillful instrumentation that brings to Salida a unique blend of two genres and a robust, toe-tapping sound.

While family often bring picnic suppers to the park to enjoy along with the Thursdays at 6 Concert Series, this year there is another alternative to bringing your own picnic to the park. New this year is the addition of a concession stand operated at the park by the Steamplant, offering a cash bar, soda and snacks such as popcorn and candy.

Natalie Fortner, an event coordinator with the Salida Steamplant, says she encourages everyone to indulge in the free performances as a way to discover a new passion and learn about local musical talent. According to Fortner, the centrally located concerts are “a great way for local businesses and local bands to get their names heard.”
