A water main break at 310 West First Street (U.S. 291) around 10 a.m. closed First Street between G and I Street for several hours on Friday, Aug. 16. The city of Salida put out a release late Friday that it will be doing closures on that section of the street this coming week to repair the water main.
Temporary repairs have made it possible for that section of road to make it open for traffic this weekend, Aug. 17 and 18.
Beginning on Monday, Aug. 19 through Wednesday, Aug. 21 the city will be doing permanent repairs. Each day that section of U.S. 291 will be closed from at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Salida Public Works is advising motorists to follow the detour signs during repairs.
