Leftover Salmon Announces Special Album Release Party May 16-28

The days are ticking down until Colorado-based newgrass jam band Leftover Salmon’s special album release party for “Grass Roots” — a three-day festival of music and community celebrated with dancing on The LAWN at the Surf Hotel.

The official release party of the band’s new album is set for May 26-28 during Paddlefest Weekend at the Surf Hotel’s outdoor venue. The three-day festival will also feature supporting artists Daniel Rodriguez, Clay Street Unit, Pink Talking Fish, and Mark Morris.

The festivities will include river competitions and afterparties in the Surf Hotel’s Ivy Ballroom featuring Rapidgrass on Friday night, and Pink Talking Fish on Saturday.

On its new album Grass Roots, Leftover Salmon reflects on its bluegrass and festival campground origins with a set of songs that draws from the repertoires that The Salmon Heads and The Left Hand String Band played when they first jammed in a Telluride Bluegrass Festival campground.

Collaborating with jam scene icons Billy Strings, Oliver Wood, and Darol Anger, and with the recent addition of Jay Starling on reso-guitar, lap steel and keys to the band’s official lineup, Leftover Salmon have all the instrumental firepower needed to deliver hard-driving versions of bluegrass standards and grassed-up versions of songs from Bob Dylan, David Bromberg, and the Grateful Dead.

The box office will open at 3:00 p.m. Friday afternoon directly outside the Surf Hotel and wrist bands will be issued. Note there is re-entry into the concert, however, make certain that you don’t remove your wristband at any point. You will be required to have your wristband for re-entry. Parents, kids 12 and under can attend for free.

Attendees planning to camp should note that the campground box office also opens at 3:00 p.m. You can get your camping pass at the box office along with your tickets. You will need to confirm your name, license plate number, cell phone, and be prepared to present your ID. You must keep your camping pass on your dashboard as security will be checking frequently. There are a limited number of camping spaces. Vehicles without camping passes placed visibly on the dashboard will be towed.

For those attending the concerts, you are not allowed to bring the following items inside the Lawn:
