On June 6, Congresswoman Brittany Pettersen’s office announced the opening of a new office for Colorado’s 7th Congressional District in Cañon City. Cañon City serves as the county seat of Fremont County, which recently became a part of the 7th district.

The new office is located in Suite C of an office building at 611 Greenwood Ave in Cañon City, just across from the Fremont County Department of Public Health & Environment. This space marks Rep. Pettersen’s third official office, in addition to the existing ones in Washington, D.C., and Lakewood, Colorado. The new office in Fremont County is especially accessible to the more rural constituents of the 7th district.

Following the 2020 census, Fremont County was incorporated into Colorado’s 7th Congressional District as part of the congressional redistricting process in 2021. Previously, it had been a part of the 5th district.

The office’s opening was celebrated with a gathering of community members and the congresswoman herself. In an official statement from Congresswoman Pettersen’s office, she expressed gratitude to the residents of Cañon City for attending the opening event and encouraged them to visit the office with any concerns requiring congressional attention.

During the campaign leading up to the 2022 congressional elections, then State Senator Pettersen made a commitment to open an office in Cañon City.

“My team is standing by,” read the office’s official announcement email, “ready to help with everything from passports and immigration to Medicare and Social Security to the IRS, veterans benefits, and more.”
