At 6:00 p.m. on Monday March 15, Salida City Council will host a work session beginning with updates from the Executive Director of Chaffee  Shuttle about local transit. Also on the agenda is an Extraordinary Teen Council presentation. City Council has invited youth representatives to engage in discussions, as a way to get youth more involved in the community and government.

Council members will also hear a presentation on Resilient Entrepreneur Ecosystem Co-Creation given by Wendell Pryor and Jamie Billesbach. The goal of this strategy is to solve community challenges along with help to boost the local economy.  Pryor and Billesbach represent the Chaffee County Economic Development Corporation and the Central Mountain Small Business Development Center, respectively.

Council will also discuss a revised version of council rules and procedures. The revision includes having meetings adjourn no later than 10:00 p.m. unless a later time is agreed upon by a popular vote. These revisions seek to accurately represent the council’s mission.

An option to streamline meetings will also be discussed:  “Limitations on Debate by Council: No council member shall speak more than twice upon any one motion. Each council member is entitled to a maximum of three (3) minutes of debate per recognition by the presiding officer.”

Due to COVID-19, the meeting will be held via GoToMeeting with limited in-person participants; mainly Council members and City Staff.
