The purpose of the retreat is three-fold:

  • Onboarding new council members/staff processes and key projects/strategic priorities
  • Review Annual Action plan – track success and set new priorities/KPI’s
  • Clarify council role with community and city operations- uncover pitfalls and possibilities

The agenda begins with an examination of the city and council priorities moving forward. During lunch, the group will hear staff  updates and insights, followed by an onboarding session for new council members focused on the dynamics of how a council functions together toward collective priorities.

The retreat will end with a session that will seek to “reconnect the individual and collective ‘whys’ and next steps” of the city’s planned agenda for the year.
