The Central Colorado Humanists Sunday Science program for September 3, 2023 at the Salida ScoutHut will feature “Jungian Psychology as a Human Science”.

The program begins at 10:00 a.m. and will feature Stephen Witty, Ph.D. presenting the core concepts of Jungian psychology in a historical framework, including notions of the psychological complex, archetypes, Jungian typology, synchronicity, the relevance of medieval alchemy, and the practice of Jungian psychoanalysis.

It will also try to address the question of whether Jungian psychology in fact falls under the rubric of science — an empirical human science — and in what sense it begins to move closer to the fields of philosophy and religious studies.

Dr. Stephen Witty is a clinical psychologist and Jungian analyst living in Nathrop, Colorado. For twenty-five years, he had a private practice in Colorado Springs. He received a B.A. in English literature from Yale College, a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, and a Diploma in analytical psychology from the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts. He is also a published poet and photographer, who has shown his work at various galleries throughout Colorado.

Central Colorado Humanists sponsor Sunday Science presentations on the first Sunday of each month at the Salida Scout Hut, 210 E. Sackett Ave. Salida. Each presentation is informative and features a science topic understandable by both scientists and non-scientists. The doors open at 9:30 AM and talk will start promptly at 10:00 AM.

Admission is free and the public is welcome.
