The Chaffee Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) regular meeting on Tuesday, April 16 includes only one regular agenda item in addition to contract reviews, but lists several items on the consent agenda and the hearing consent agenda.

The regular agenda item is a discussion and an update regarding the request from the Salida School District to acquire a portion of land owned by Chaffee County north of the Chaffee County Fairgrounds.

The consent agenda includes the final approval of Cleora North Planned Unit Development Plan as initially approved on April 9, 2024. As per county procedure, the hearing consent agenda includes items for which no testimony is expected. If a commissioner or member of the public indicates they want to discuss one of these items, it could be moved to the regular agenda. There are three items:

  • Consideration of a Multi-Year Special Event Permit for the Spirit Trail Race.
    The May 26, 2024 event, planned to begin at the South Main Town Square of Buena Vista would be run in and around the Fourmile Travel management area on CR 304 and CR 315. The applicant is the group known as “Run Beyond”, Jason and Mallory Brooks and Jason Schlarb. Organizers project attendance at 300.

  • The Suesse Heritage Water Subdivision Exemption is requested for a residential-zoned parcel located at 12704 CR 195 A, Salida. The request: to subdivide a 4.34-acre parcel currently used for a single-family residence into two parcels, each roughly 2 acres.
  • The Powell Plat Amendment by applicants Richard Kyle and Richard Kent Powell is to relocate the platted building envelop for a residential site located at 6574 Nicole Lane in Salida.

The BoCC’s contract and grant agenda items include an application for a COSWAP grant in partnership with the National Forest Foundation and Envision Chaffee County, a resolution designating a signatory for the Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) Centennial 14ers grant, and a discussion on whether to pursue a Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) Prop123 Planning Capacity Grant.
