The Salida City Council (SCC) is holding a regular meeting at 6:00 p.m. this evening, Tuesday, April 16, in Council Chambers at the Touber Building, 448 E. First Street. A complete agenda and packet, including instructions for remote meeting access, can be found here.

On the agenda for consideration are several action items. Under “Unfinished Business” are second readings and public hearings for Ordinances 2024-04 and 2024-05. Ordinance 2024-04 modifies language in the Municipal Code to reflect an expansion in the defined Area Median Income (AMI) terms of the Affordable Housing Fund.

Ordinance 2024-05 repeals and re-enacts Chapter 11, Article VI of the Municipal Code, the section on “Parks, Recreation, Open Space, and Trails.”

Under New Business are several Resolutions for consideration, including 2024-28, approving an amended parking agreement with Interstate Parking; 2024-29, declaring May 11 as Arbor Day; and 2024-30, endorsing a civic education project sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Chaffee County, entitled “Together We Stand.”

Council, Mayor, Treasurer, and Attorney Reports

In this section, the Treasurer will give the February sales tax report.

Finally, the City Attorney’s report will be an update on the lawsuit brought against the City of Salida by the Town of Poncha Springs and assorted private developers over water and sewer system development, long a contentious issue between the two municipalities.

Executive Session

An Executive Session is planned for the purpose of conferencing with the City Attorney for the purpose of receiving legal advice on specific legal questions under C.R.S Section 24-6-402(4)(b), and for the purpose of determining positions relative to matters that may be subject to negotiation, developing strategy for negotiations, and/or instructing negotiators under C.R.S. Section 24-6-402(4)(e), and the following additional details are provided for identification purposes: Atmos Franchise Agreement and franchise agreement terms generally.
