The program is seeking those interested in early childhood education, who wish to serve the children and families of Chaffee County. The program offers an 18-credit, Early Childhood Lead Teacher Certificate from Colorado Mountain College (CMC) that can be articulated into an associate’s degree in early childhood education.

The free program also includes monthly coaching, reflective supervision opportunities, and experiences working in a licensed center.

To apply, applicants must fill out a questionnaire and provide documentation of official high school and/or college transcripts.

Questions about the program can be directed to Sarah Romack at SRomack@CCECC.org or 719-221-5114. The application is available online here.

The Chaffee County Early Childhood Council (CCECC) provides many professional resources on its website at CCECC.org. These resources include mental health resources, training opportunities, scholarships, and more.

A lack of early childhood education and childcare options has been identified as a major issue in Chaffee County. The Buena Vista School District (BVSD) is currently in the process of building a new preschool facility to expand available options and the Town of Buena Vista is working in conjunction with Fading West to build and open a new childcare facility as a part of the Carbonate Street/Midland Apartments Project.
