In an era of coronavirus pandemic, when it is an effort for many to choose peace over panic, and faith over fear, Ascension Episcopal Church of Salida is inviting worshippers to choose peace and faith. Father Michael Fay announced earlier this week that beginning March 22 and for the forseeable future, the church is moving worship services online, via a Zoom meeting setup.

This might just bring the Episcopal services and the local congregation into direct community with Ark Valley Voice readers spread across 41 states, and more than 30 countries.

Fay is making an open invitation to all people needing some encouragement right now: offering a way to engage with others in a valley now beginning to be hit with direct cases of COVID-19.

This is Lent; a time in the church year that is already contemplative. Religious leaders would tell us that as we descend deeper into the pandemic, now more than ever, the kind of comforting community that morning prayer provides can add some welcome solace.

Ascension Episcopal church, Salida began as a pioneer church in the 1900s.
