Beginning at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, the Chaffee Planning Commission (PC) will continue its review of the first draft of the first section of the new Land Use Code (LUC). The session will take place both in person in the Commissioners’ meeting room at 104 Crestone Avenue, and on Zoom (meeting ID# 423 829 0633).

The session is a continuation of the Aug. 2 meeting where the PC got through less than half the draft amendments of the LUC first section. As established last week, this session is a public hearing, in which the public is invited to comment on the proposed  LUC.

Tonight, the PC will take public comments during a public hearing of the following sections of Land Use Code Text Amendment(s):

  • Accessory Campground (Section 7.8.8)
  • Agritourism (new, Section 7.8.2)
  • Short Term Rentals  (Section 7.8.34.)
  • Wildland Urban Interface (new Section 7.1.10)
  • Accessory Dwelling Units (Section 7.8.1)

Last week the PC got through: Special events on rural land, the special event permitting process, Private land camping (HIP Camps), Bed and Breakfasts, and Right-of-way vacation. While it began some discussion about the complexity of short-term rentals, it left the major discussion about STRs to the Aug. 9 session.
