Have you recently purchased a new vehicle and love your current plate?

Good news, as long as the Colorado plates are currently in your name and in good shape, you can keep that plate. You cannot keep plates that are on a vehicle/trailer that you purchased from a private party. Be sure to ask the motor vehicle deputy assisting you about details.

Curious about specialty plates?

Check out the website, dmv.colorado.gov. Prices and qualifications vary depending on the plate, so be sure to read the fine print! You can upgrade to a specialty plate at any time.

Feeling creative? Personalized plates cannot resemble a regular plate configuration and must include a detailed description of what the plate means. You will be required to provide at least 2 options.

The State of Colorado requires a front license plate. If you are coming from a single plate state or have purchased a vehicle that doesn’t have a front mounting board, you will need to have one installed. Do not put your plate in the front window.
