Chaffee County residents, it’s time to get out your junk. June 2 is designated as Free Dump Day at the county landfill for county residents. Between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., the landfill will accept trash without charge, including household trash, yard waste, mattresses, batteries, metal and appliances (no refrigerators or freezers that contain Freon)
Proof of county residency is required for admittance to the free trash drop-off. There is no limit on the number of loads, but the county has asked that no semi-style trailers be used. Commercial haulers, contractors and other businesses will be charged the standard rates.
The county landfill, in line with state regulations, will not accept tires, electronics or hazardous material, including appliances containing Freon.
