The League of Women Voters of Chaffee County is sponsoring a forum beginning at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 on funding issues affecting our educational institutions. The program will be held at the Scout Hut in Riverside Park in Salida and will feature national and state speakers, in addition to the superintendents of both Chaffee school districts: Lisa Yates representing the Buena Vista School District, and David Blackburn representing the Salida School District.

Feature speakers are Dr. Robert Slavin, Director of the Center for Research and Reform in Education at Johns Hopkins University and contributing education columnist for the Huffington Post. Representing Colorado educational funding will be Tracie Rainey who serves as executive director of the Colorado School finance Project.

The event includes free appetizers and a cash bar.
