In an event signaling a new era for the Chaffee County Fairgrounds in Poncha Springs, Chaffee County will hold its first ever Monster Truck Rally beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 14. The rally immediately follows the 12:45 p.m. dedication of the brand new grandstand facility. Chaffee County Fair Board members conducting the ribbon cutting ceremony will commemorate this inaugural event and the new grandstands.

The event at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds in Poncha Springs and will feature five official monster trucks from the Monster Truck Racing League. This marks the first time such an event has been held in the central Colorado region. Each truck will be competing in several events to earn points toward the 2019 National Championship.


The gates of the fairgrounds will open at 11 a.m., on Saturday morning, allowing plenty of time to meet the drivers, take photographs with the trucks, and even ride in an official monster truck. Food and drink vendors will be on hand, along with other activities available for family fun prior to the show.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.chaffeecountyfair.com or at the gate. Tickets are $15 for 4 to 16-year-olds and $25 for 17 and over. Children under three are free. The Monster Truck Rally will be the first event to occur at the new, covered grandstands.

According to Chaffee County Fair Board member Abby Hutchinson, the monster truck event was added this year as part of the official grandstand grand opening festivities to highlight the annual Fair and Rodeo. The Chaffee County Fair is scheduled for July 24 to August 4.
