From February 12 to 15, join bird lovers all over the world in this year’s Great Backyard Bird Count. The four-day event is hosted by the Audubon society, The Cornell Lab and Birds Canada where participants watch, count, learn about and celebrate birds.

Snowy day at the bird feeder.

To participate, count the birds in your yard for a little as 15 minutes on one of the four days, then click here to submit your bird list. This global movement helps participants better connect with the nature that surrounds them while also helping scientists monitor bird populations throughout the world.

The Bird Count uses eBird, one of the world’s largest nature databases which stores more than 100 million bird sightings that are contributed each year. The database is used by professionals for science and conservation. Click here to learn more about eBird and how to use it.
