The Poncha Springs Board of Trustees (BoT) will convene on Monday, June 26, for their monthly meeting. The board meets on the fourth Monday of each month and the meeting’s start time is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Poncha Springs Town Hall, 333 Burnett Ave.

Board meetings are open to the public, and those interested in attending can do so either in person or on Zoom

The meeting will begin with the approval of minutes from the board’s most recent meeting, which was on May 22. Following the approval of minutes, the presentations for this meeting will take place.

First up, the board will hear updates on the U.S. 285/U.S. 50 Intersection Design and Reconstruction project, a project which has been in the works since a request for proposals on highway and intersections redesign was put out in May of 2022. The need for changes to the intersection has been on county and Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) lists for the past several years.

Following this, Dee Dubin will give a presentation updating the board on the Chaffee County Senior Housing Steering Committee.

The final presentation will be given by President of Ark Valley Preschool, Katie Patti, who will provide updates on Chaffee County Childcare, Ark Valley Preschool and the Schoolhouse, which plans to reopen The Schoolhouse in August.

After the presentations have concluded, the board will have a hearing regarding a land use application by Aristata Communications, formerly known as Colorado Central Telecom, for the addition of a new monopole communications tower on Cemetery Hill. The application was unanimously approved by the Poncha Springs Planning and Zoning Committee at their last meeting on June 12.

Following the Aristata hearing, the board will consider liquor licensing matters for two organizations. First, they will consider the renewal of liquor licensing for LaGree’s Market and Hardware, and afterwards will decide on granting a Special Events Permit to the Chaffee County Democrats for an upcoming event.

The final piece of business to be continued in the meeting will be a discussion on vacancy within the BoT. The meeting will then conclude with financial matters, specifically reports on May 2023 and the payment of bills.
