Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, many county residents have struggled with one thing or another; whether it be isolation, anxiety, fear, depression, or just overall lack of control. The SteamPlant in partnership with the Salida Creative District have come together to provide the community with an outlet for this stress.

They have issued an invitation to join registered art therapist and clinical mental health counselor, Tia Pleiman for a four-part art therapy retreat. The retreat is meant to reduce stress, offer a space for freedom of expression, self-reflection, insight, and empowerment.

The retreat will be held at the Rotary Scout Hut, 210 East Sackett Ave., from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on October 7, 14, 21 and 28. Materials are included and no prior art experience is needed.

Due to COVID-19, class sizes are limited. Masks are required and individual tables will be set up. There will be no shared tools to so as to avoid possible contact.

Pleiman recently completed a Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree in Colorado and is working in Community Mental Health and Studio Based Art Therapy and Counseling in private practice. Her art therapy is cross-cultural, with an emphasis on healing through self-expression, self-reflection and creative exploration. She has a MA, ATR, NCC and LPCC.
