Stage and Rail Trail Projects is in need of volunteers on August 6, 7, 28, and 29. They invite volunteers to “come get your hands dirty” and help improve an important connector on the Stage & Rail Trail. This is a proposed hiking/biking route from Salida, CO to Leadville CO following the historic stagecoach road and railroad corridors.

The route parallels the Arkansas River and traverses 70 miles of landscapes in central Colorado. Volunteers will be working on a short connector trail under the U.S.24 bridge, an essential element in safely connecting trails on the east side of the highway to west side public lands. It is also key to providing access to the non-highway route of the Pike National Trail and to the eventual designation of the Salida to Leadville regional Stage and Rail Trail 13-mile section from Hayden Reservoir to Leadville.
