The showing of  “Stand Still and Look Stupid” at A Church, has been postponed to 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Feb. 11, 2022, due to the current surge of COVID-19 cases.

Brought back by popular demand, “Stand Still and Look Stupid” tells the incredible, little known life story of Hollywood movie star Hedy Lamarr. She was only 19 years old when her first film “Ecstasy” was released. Lamarr is the perfect example of someone with both beauty and brains.

Shortly after, Hedy would marry one of the wealthiest men in Austria, an arms dealer who entertained German Chancellor Adolf Hitler in his home. During these encounters, Hedy was told to “sit still and be quiet,” which she did while secretly taking notes. During these meetings, Hedy developed a deep hatred for the Nazi leader. Decades later, she would use her notes from these meetings to develop an invention that would save thousands of innocent lives.

“Our students loved this show. As a librarian and history teacher, I love the research. The library just bought a new book about the history of feminism, and Hedy Lamarr has an article in it!” said Bill Fabian, Buena Vista High School librarian and science teacher.
