This beloved event will highlight some of the finest bluegrass talent in the valley and state alongside the backdrop of the beautiful Arkansas River. Music will start at 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon and guests will be treated to incendiary performances by Big Meadow, Blue Canyon Boys, and local legend Bruce Hayes’ outfit Ragged Mountain.

The pickin’ will resume at noon on Sunday, continuing until 9:30 p.m. with 2018 Telluride Bluegrass Band Contest Winners Wood Belly and internationally-renowned bluegrass phenoms Rapidgrass headlining.

In many ways, Rapidgrass’ musical message exemplifies the spirit of Bluegrass on the Arkansas, and mountain music lifestyles in general.

“Rapidgrass embodies the notion that nature, and particularly mountains, can bring out the best in our art, and we have dedicated much of our creative energy into bringing that art back to the people of the mountains. Our music is motivated by and made for those who find peace in the mountains,” according to Rapidgrass’ official website.

Food and refreshments will be served by volunteers and members of the Salida Rotary Club with donations graciously accepted to support the scholastic fund. The event is open to all ages and games will be available for kids and families alike.

County residents and visitors to the valley are invited to help kick off the summer right with some good pickin’, good grub and good vibes at Bluegrass on the Arkansas in downtown Salida May 25-26.

Band sponsors include High Country Bank, DSI, First Colorado Land Trust and State Farm. For more information, visit the Bluegrass on the Arkansas official event website (www.bluegrassonthearkansas.org).
