During its 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26 work session, the Buena Vista Board of Trustees with hear a proposal to consider the sale of recreational marijuana within town limits.

No decisions will be made during the work session, but the trustees do plan to take public comment. Those wishing to make comments will need to sign up to speak.

The topic was last on the town’s agenda in 2016, when more than 61 percent of voters rejected retail marijuana sales as a ballot question. This time around, trustees could allow recreational marijuana sales within town limits by a resolution. But if at some point the town chose to create its own specific marijuana tax, that tax would be required to be placed as a ballot question to voters.

The work session comes before the trustees’ regularly-scheduled 7 p.m. Nov. 26 meeting. On the agenda for the meeting is discussion of a resolution adopting an update to the three-mile plan. This lays out the town’s plan for those land areas within three miles of the town limits of Buena Vista, which might become annexation topics in the next few years.

A public hearing is scheduled on the Buena Vista 2020 Proposed budget, to discuss budget requests. The board will also review the town’s proposed 2020 Fee Schedule.
