The Chaffee Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) will meet in an amended regular session beginning at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 14 in the Commissioners Meeting Room at 104 Crestone Ave., Salida. The meeting will also be available on Zoom.

With BoCC Chair Keith Baker at a conference in Washington D.C. Chair Pro Tem Greg Felt will lead the session. From 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. the BoCC will convene sitting first as the County Board of Human Services to get the DHS report, then it will convene sitting as the County Board of Health to receive the public health report. The report from the County Landfill as a written report only.

Moving into its regular agenda, the BoCC will consider the Shaw Heritage Water Subdivision Exemption for a rural parcel located at 7381 CR 221, Salida. Applicant  JTS Development, LLC’s request is to subdivide 35.99 acres into two parcels of 2.5 acres and 33.49 acres. A community well and individual on-site wastewater treatment system (OWTS) is proposed to serve the newly created lot of 2.5 acres. The newly created lot will have access through an existing access easement.

Assuming approval of the heritage water subdivisions is granted, the BoCC will move into consideration of the Shaw Ranch Plat Amendment to the Shaw Ranch Final Plat to add access and utility easements to accommodate a shared well. These easements are for a well pump house and water distribution lines to the three individual lots.

The BoCC will move on — or  a better term might be return to a much-discussed topic — consideration of  Land Use Code Text Amendments for the last section of Private Lands Camping. This topic has been continued at least eight times since Aug. 22, 2022. Public comments closed on this item on Sept 28, 2022.
