The month of February has been designated in Chaffee County as a county-wide movement to spread positivity and highlight a spirit of service, and random acts of kindness across our community. The local effort coincides with National Random Acts of Kindness Day on February 17.

The county’s message during this Chaffee Kindness In Action month is centered on how the community is better when people work together, with a reminder that it doesn’t take much effort to simply “be kind” —  #BeKindChaffee

The county and its municipalities are inviting residents to show your kind H.E.A.R.T.  by:

  • H.: Helping our neighbors
  • E.: Elevating our community
  • A.: Acting out of love
  • R.: Respecting our shared humanity
  • T.: Treating each other with kindness!

The county is asking residents and businesses to send them examples of Kindness In Action to celebrate our community. Email examples to chaffeesgotheart@gmail.com or hashtag them as shown in the graphic here.

“We’ll be looking for contributions from the community to highlight how they are enacting kindness in action,” said Chffee Public Information Officer Beth Helmke. “The idea is to create a culture of kindness.”

To spread the message, Chaffee County is encouraging people and businesses to create and surprise your workplace teams, students, favorite businesses, neighbors, front line workers, friends,   etc…. with special initiatives of kindness this month — passing on the good.  The county would also like people to help spread the word on social media platforms, business marquees, newsletters, web posts, and use the tag #BeKindChaffee.
