The Colorado Press Association (CPA) announced late Friday afternoon that the Ark Valley Voice (AVV) has been admitted to its membership as a digital media platform.

CPA is a trade association dedicated to the preservation, progression and modernization of Colorado’s newspapers and related industries. Like other press associations, CPA’s legacy membership includes traditional newspapers. However, in 2015, the CPA gave full membership rights and benefits to free and non-legal-notice publications, as well as monthly, alternative publications and online-only publications.

“We’re delighted and honored that CPA has recognized the efforts of Ark Valley Voice to offer news for residents and visitors to the Arkansas River Valley,” said Managing Editor Jan Wondra. “News and information provided by Ark Valley Voice is reaching audiences not reached by traditional media. AVV is online and carried in readers’ pockets on mobile phones.”

CPA’s mission is based on three words: educate, advocate and enhance. It provides members with journalistic educational resources, leads the annual state conference on journalism, administers the state public notice system, advocates on behalf of community news at the legislative level, and manages the annual awards for excellence in journalism at the state level.

To join CPA, a news media must have been in operation for at least a year, demonstrate a solid readership base, and exhibit proven rates of growth.

Ark Valley Voice reaches readers far beyond the Arkansas River Valley; extending to readers in 41 states and more than 30 countries. Ark Valley Voice is free to readers, supported by advertising, donations and “very patient investors.”
