The Salida City Council will host a combined work session and regular meeting starting at 5:00 p.m. on September 7 due to the Labor Day Holiday. During the work session portion of the meeting, City Council will discuss the 2022 budget review.

The following points will be discussed in detail

  • 2022 sales tax projections at 24 percent higher than 2020 actual.
  • Utilization of fund balance in the General fund budget of $2.3M
  • Utilization of fund balance in the Streets Fund Budget of $324K
  • Evaluate the impact of one-time funding requests contained in the budget.
  • Continue with annual water and wastewater usage fee increases as recommended by rate study (2.58 percent increase for water, 8.85 percent increase for wastewater)

Starting at 6:00 p.m. the Council will begin their regular meeting where they have a packed consent agenda that includes the approval of multiple upcoming events. Unfinished business includes the final reading and public hearing for Ordinance 2021-12 Second Reading and Public Hearing for the Chaffee County Government Major Impact Review application for a Planned Development Overlay at their property located at 104 Crestone Avenue.

A public hearing will also be held for Ordinance 2021-13 which regards land use and development, to address changes to the family childcare homes required by recent State legislation.

City Council meetings continue to allow in-person attendance, primarily for purposes of conducting public hearings. The city still requests that those wishing to testify should plan to do so via the GoToWebinar platform or by email or letter.

Anyone who is unvaccinated and who wants to provide testimony must wear a face mask and remain at least six feet away from others both inside and outside of the Council Chambers.
