The Salida School Board monthly meeting welcomed new members and returning members in the Tuesday, December 10 meeting. The November election saw returning board members Jennifer Visitacion, Joel McBride, and Joe Smith on the ballot and for reelection.

Two vacancies remained for District 1 and District 5, following the November election and last night, the Salida School Board hosted a public interview of four candidates to fill the remaining two seats. Greg Reed was selected to fill the seat for District 5 and Carrie Mattix was selected for the District 1 seat.

The official Salida School Board is comprised of Cheri Post, Jeannie Peters, Joe Smith, Joel McBride, and Jennifer Visitacion, alongside the Board is Salida Schools Superintendent David Blackburn.

The new members and members elected in November were sworn in towards the end of the regular meeting after vacancy interviews were conducted. Joel McBride was not in attendance and will be sworn in at the next meeting.

Plans call for all members of the board will partake in the Board retreat taking place on January 11, 2020.

In addition to swearing in returning and new members, the Salida School Board also hosted their Bi-annual elections that coincide with election years for Board Leadership. The Salida School Board made passing motions for Jennifer Visitacion to serve as Board President, Joe Smith to serve as the Board;s Vice President and for Cheri Post to serve as the Board’s Treasurer.
