Salida Soup is turning four this Thursday and founders Jimmy Sellars and Mark Monroe invite the public to celebrate the birthday at Soulcraft from 6 to 8 p.m. May 16. Salida Soup is a monthly community-based potluck where participants, through this micro-granting dinner, assist a variety of projects in the Upper Arkansas River Valley.

Sellars has referred to Salida Soup as “an evolution of fundraising.” Attendees bring a potluck item (this month’s category is Happy Hour/Bar Food Classics!) and a $5 donation to be eligible to vote on the evening’s presentations.

Diners will hear three five-minute pitches from community members who need funding for projects that are beneficial to the community. Enjoy food, art and music, as well as beer from Salida’s hometown brewery, then choose the winning proposal to receive the evening’s donations.

Salida Brew is being held this month at Soulcraft Brewing, located at 248 W. Rainbow Blvd. in Salida. For more details on individual events visit www.salidasoup.org.
