As of March 18, Native Sun Construction completed rehabilitation of the west side abutment for the Granite Bridge Project. Water is no longer being diverted and crews are finished working in the river.

The next phase of replacing the bridge’s foundation has officially begun. Until early April, local traffic across the bridge may encounter some short delays of no greater than five to ten minutes when crews need to work on the bridge structure.

The project is being conducted in several phases. The abutment rehabilitation is the phase most recently completed, which began in late November, 2023. Upcoming phases include:

  • Bridge foundation replacement from early March to Late April
  • Replacement of the bridge’s superstructure in May, which will require a one-day bridge closure.
  • Modification and rehabilitation of the existing truss from early May to early June.

The project should be complete by early July 2024.

Winter working hours for the project are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The road will stay open while improvements are made; however, there will be a one-day closure when the bridge’s superstructure is replaced in May. According to a release, “Residents and property owners of Granite will be notified in advance of this event.”
