Chaffee County children can get free books through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program until they are five years old. Monarch Community Outreach awarded $1,000 to the program in January, so there is no even more funding to send books.

Every month the program mails an age-appropriate book to each registered child. There are currently 500 children receiving books in Chaffee County. Since the program was launched locally in March of 2015, over 33,000 books have been mailed and 1,200 children have benefited from the program.

Buena Vista Rotary and Salida Sunrise Rotary jointly support and sponsor the program.

Contributions from Monarch Community Outreach as well as other local organizations and generous individuals make the program possible.

Chaffee County families can register their children to receive books through the program by clicking here or on the Salida Sunrise Rotary Club’s website.

Locally, registration forms can be picked up at the Salida Regional Library or the Buena Vista Public Library in the Children’s room, then mailed in to the appropriate address.
